1920’s Vintage Bridal Shoot

at Shenley Cricket Centre

There are two themes I totally adore when it comes to weddings: vintage & rustic. I wanted to put together a styled shoot to give couples inspiration on how to bring an exquisite touch of the luxury 1920’s to their modern, laidback rustic wedding. My amazing team of creatives came together to produce this wonderful shoot.

I chose a venue with a backdrop of a picturesque countryside and a building that would suit an elegant 1920’s wedding. It came together brilliantly at the Shenley Cricket Centre; a hidden gem in the charming Hertfordshire countryside. The rustic look and the Tudor facade of their main building perfectly suited our theme.

For the shoot, I wanted to use whites, greys, blues, greens & golds. The venue tied really nicely with our colour scheme. Much of the mise en scene in the shoot was provided by ‘Herts Vintage Hire’. I was amazed at the collection they had; I was spoilt for choice! The use of vintage & rustic props: beautiful china, old suitcases & even a typewriter, set the scene for our extremely talented stylist Bilen, who works for Harrods interiors and really understood my vision, to work her magic. She used lots of beading, ostrich feathers, a collection of crystal glasses & decanters for the table. Bilen has recently started her own styling company under the name of ‘Queen of Hearts Floral Design.

One of the most important parts of this shoot was the dress. I came across Sharon Bowen Dryden dresses not too long ago & completely fell in love with her designs. Sharon had the perfect dress for this shoot, named: ‘in the mood for love’ and it really added a touch of Gatsby luxury. To compliment the dress, we used a stunning tiara by ‘Arianna Tiaras’ & earrings from ‘Glitzy Secrets’ who were featured on Downton Abbey. The suit was provided by ‘Blackout 2 Vintage’, which sell & hire real vintage clothing. Our fabulous hair & makeup artist, Lynn Jackett from ‘Bridal Hair & Makeup Artists’ who has worked with many celebrities on film, created the perfect look for this shoot. The gorgeous flowers were put together by Gemma from ‘Iris & Co Floral Design’. With bold, pink proteas and soft peach roses nestled in a bed of wild foliage, the florals brought a gorgeous pop of colour to the warm, neutral colour palette. A stunning floral hoop bouquet was also compiled for the 4-year-old child model, who was brilliant on
the day.

The stationary design was simple, elegant & delicate with a gold rustic edge – designed and provided by ‘Polka Dot Paper’. The 4-tiered cake with delicate beading, art deco patterns & topper was made by ‘Bespoke bakes’. Macaroons by M&S were used as table favours. The sapphire & diamond engagement ring on the female model was by London Victorian Ring Co. Beautiful is an understatement!
